In both a physical and a metaphysical sense, we are all extremely sophisticated transmitters and receivers. We constantly have thoughts coming into us, from somewhere, and we are constantly expressing many of those thoughts outward through our words and actions. Not only that — we are also completely immersed in what the physicists use to call “the Cosmic ether.” That means there’s energy everywhere. At any given moment, there are all sorts of different waves going through us — light waves, both visible and invisible; sound waves both audible and inaudible; and all sorts of other energy, including radio, television, streaming music and cell phone signals. And most of this is stuff we can’t even see, even though it still affects us twenty-four hours a day. But we also have come to understand that this is not just a one-way street; a lot of these things we can affect simply by using our intelligence to direct the laws that govern their existence.

On Sunday June 3rd, bring your questions to the Sunday Celebration at CSL Midtown. You will have an opportunity to write a question on a card before the celebration which will be passed along to Dr. Bob. He  will construct a talk from the questions.  This is a great opportunity to ask that question that you have wished you had a venue for asking. Whether you are a member, regular attendee, or first time guest you are invited to participate. Some view this as an opportunity to stump the minister. Others see as an opportunity to hear what questions others in the group may have about the center, the teaching, or the application of Spiritual Principles to everyday life. Whatever the expectation this promises to be an enjoyable experience of thought, feeling, and insight. Ultimately of course, the answers already reside within you.

Life gives us deep powerful resources that comfort us in the painful places and carry us aloft in our happiness. This Gift of Joy is more than simple happiness, more than feeling giddy with laughter, and more than a way to avoid the challenges that confront us. It is a deep recognition that the one creative source has already given us all that there is to receive, Life, Love, Light, Power, Peace, and Beauty. Joy is the final gift that sustains us through all things and allows us to connect with all the other gifts. We can cultivate and nurture our experience of Joy in our everyday living.

My talk titles often come from a movie or a song. I actually heard this line in conversation with a friend recently, “sometimes you get what you want”. Her new beau said it to her, happy having one another in search of relationship. The phrase later reminded me of a song I’d heard in the movie “The Big Chill” performed by the Rolling Stones titled, “You can’t always get what you want, but you get what you need”

Peace is a much sought after and misunderstood quality of life. The more we search for it and try to enforce it from outside ourselves, the more it eludes us. It is not the absence of chaos or violence to be imposed from outside of ourselves or situations. It is a basic quality of life which, when recognized opens the way for its creation in the our world of everyday living. Peace is an inside job.
