We are excited to welcome back to the stage Rev Angela “Niecy” Harmon. She is a founding member of CSL Midtown and was a staff minister here until she moved on to other ministries in 2019. She is an author and founder of Happy Academy (myhappyacademy.org).  HA supports mental, physical, spiritual and social emotional awareness & wellness in children of all ages. Angela is a licensed and ordained minister of Science Of Mind to serve as a spiritual guide and leader to those that seek peaceful living scientifically. Angela lives in Atlanta, and is an empty-nester mother of three, with four grandchildren in close proximity.

“God works in mysterious ways” is an oft quoted phrase. Yet sometimes it is not so mysterious as we might think. This is especially true when we realize that God is “at hand” and close as your next breath. If that is so, what difference does it make in our lives. Are there ways we can really be aware of these “mysterious ways?”

God is a word that has many meanings and definitions depending on cultural context, theology, and philosophy. It ranges from the “old man in the sky” flinging curses and blessings upon His people, to the very energy of life flowing through us all. This week let’s look at the philosophy and meaning of God in a context of One Power, One Life, and One Love. What difference does it make to our lives?

As we sweep into 2023 let’s take time to reflect and release those ideas and behaviors that no longer serve us. Because the Universe abhors a vacuum, let’s consider replacements which serve us with greater ideas for our ongoing good.

As we begin each year, It is a long-standing tradition that we return the our roots, to the basic and formative ideas of the Science of Mind. Based on the opening essays in what is referred to as the “textbook”, The Science of Mind, by Ernest Holmes. We will consider what is our idea of God and how is it the same or different from other theologies. How does it work, what does it do, and how are we related to it.

There is a deep longing within each one of us to belong. The bigger truth is that we already belong, by the simple fact that we are here.

Not everyone looks forward to going home for the holidays. Sometimes “home” is the place that breaks us, leaving lifelong wounds that can be difficult to heal. H.O.M.E. may be the place where Healing Opportunities Manifest Everywhere. This week we discuss the “initiation phase” of the Hero’s Journey and how to withstand and navigate the trials and tribulations that are necessary for learning and growth.

AFFIRMATION: I am grateful for ALL of my journey.

“There are only two lasting bequests that we can hope to give our children—roots and wings.” This week we explore the relationship between freedom and safety and how childhood conditioning sets us up for what Einstein called “the most important decision we make.”

AFFIRMATION: My home brings out the best in me and others.

What do you have in common with Harry Potter, Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz, Gautama Buddha and even Jesus? You and the rest of humanity are playing out the Hero’s Journey, which starts and ends in the place we call “home.”
